Friends Don’t Let Friends Choose AIUA
AIUA was formed in the 1970’s, and has been a household name in Baldwin County for awhile. After Ivan and Katrina, when many insurers lost their shirts (literally and figuratively), they became the only game in town, as most carriers pulled out of our area after claims were paid out. However, there are a host of carriers who have studied the potential catastrophic impact a major storm will have on our area and have entered the coastal insurance world. Up until recently, the only coverage offered by AIUA was ACV (Actual Cash Value), which dictated that depreciation would be calculated with every claim. The vast majority of insurance carriers offer RCV( Replacement Cost Value) on your homes and property, which stipulate that no depreciation will be calculated when processing claims. It was not until recently that AIUA changed their policies, as competition forced their non-benevolent hand.
Many large carriers, such as State Farm, Farmers, AllState, GEICO, and USAA do not offer policies that cover wind/hail damage in Baldwin County. They will offer “fire” coverage, while offering AIUA. AIUA offers bare-boned policies and high rates, and there are a host of other carriers that will give you better coverage with lower deductibles at a lower rate. Many residents do not know that there are much better alternatives when it comes to insurance in our area. But, a quick call to Coastal Alabama Insurance will allow us to place you in a perfect policy that suites your needs while saving you a bunch.
